About

Write here, write now.

I’m Anna Beth…

I grew up in a small town in Eastern North Carolina. I was the 3rd of 4 (well 5, but that’s a blog for another day) kids. I enjoy reading and writing in my very limited free time, but mostly I enjoy spending time with my family. I’m a mother to a one year old little boy who has entirely changed my life for the better. I hope you’ll find something worthwhile here.

My story

I was the first person in my family to go to college, where I earned a Bachelors in English degree. My time in college taught me a great deal about my craft. I spent hours writing, editing, workshopping, and re-writing.

When I graduated, I started teaching English to middle schoolers. Everyone told me that I was crazy and that I would hate it, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. I can truly say that I learned something new everyday whether it was about my students or about myself. I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, so to find that I actually enjoyed it, and that I was (for the most part and according to my principals and the occasional student) good at it–was something I didn’t entirely expect. I think I’ve always expected myself to fail at the things I really want to excel in.

I’m not currently teaching right now, as I had a baby in 2022. I’ve been privileged enough to be able to stay at home and watch him grow and change by the hour. He’s terrifying and wonderful and all the good parts of me and his father.

Currently I’m trying to figure out what my future holds. My love of writing is something I’ve never been able to shake. Since graduation, I haven’t been writing as often as I was. Life has gotten in the way of me being able to practice my craft, but I owe it to someone I love to get back into it. Maybe I owe it to myself, too.
